Meaningful Media

Meaningful Media is a nonprofit network, based in the United States, which works to increase the quality, visibility, and impact of pro-social media.
Communication Strategies
Meaningful Media puts this mission in action through internet- and in-person-based approaches including:
- Networking: Meaningful Media's Membership Program, Professional Networks, and Students for Meaningful Media Chapters are designed to connect creators, distributors, and advocates of socially relevant media. Basic membership is free. Meaningful Media also runs a Leadership Corps programme that connects like-minded professionals and gives them the opportunity to contribute their skills (e.g., social media/marketing, writing/research, graphic design, etc.) on a volunteer basis to create social change.
- Research and Resources: Meaningful Media seeks to inform producers and consumers of meaningful media through reports, newsletters, fact sheets, and the Meaningful Mediapedia, a searchable portal aggregating information on media projects, organisations, and resources that address social, economic, and political issues. Monthly Meaningful Memo newsletters bring together examples of successful pro-social media; click here to subscribe.
- Education: Meaningful Media sponsors classes, seminars, workshops, screenings, and forums, such as, "Using Media as a Change Agent: Increasing Reach and Impact," which includes: examination of the causal link between media exposure and behavioural change, elements shared by successful socially relevant media, and strategies for effectively marketing and distributing meaningful media.
- Professional Services: Meaningful Media works with clients to advance social issue media projects through consulting, promotion, and fiscal sponsorship.
