Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Founded in 1986, El Salvador Integral Development Association (ASDI) aims to promote gender equality in the population of El Salvador so it may help to reduce its levels of individual and collective poverty, managing its resources and needs, administrating its conflicts, and operating with an eye to the sustainable development of the ecosystem. In short, ASSI seeks to promote the self-management of poor populations from an integral human perspective, based on equal opportunity actions, social justice, and gender equality.

Ten different projects in the fields of Agriculture, Enterprise, Health, Education, and Habitat, are conducted; some have an integral character, that is, they combine several components: financing, technical assistance in agriculture and farming, support to microbusinesses, health care, education, housing, and infrastructure, as well as the promotion of human rights.
Communication Strategies
The institution offers the following services: financing (loans), training, technical assistance to small agriculture and farmers; adult learning and school (for minors); primary, basic, and mental health care for rural populations; construction of houses for rural populations; and creation and rehabilitation of rural community water systems.
