After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. 

Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future. 

On the transfer, co-founder Victoria Martin expressed her pleasure to see this work continue under Wits' leadership, knowing that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction. 

As Wits, we honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades and look forward building from that strong base. This includes co-founders Warren Feek (1953-2024) and Victoria Martin as well as La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA), which continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com with links to The CI Global site. We are also eager to forge new partnerships and entertain new ideas as we consider how best to contribute to social and behaviour change in our rapidly evolving environment.

If you are joining the International Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Summit in Panama, please join Wits and CILA on Monday, 22 June, to share your thoughts and suggestion for the relaunch of the Communication Initiative. We will be in Pacifica 5 from 12-1:25 for the Refuel, Reflect, and Renew Lunch Series: The Communication Initiative: celebrating a driving force for Communication for Social Change and the way forward. We will reflect on the legacy of Warren Feek and family in creating the Communication Initiative, consider the contributions of CI over the years and then turn our attention towards the future in this dynamic session.

Juntos 2030: De la política a la acción

Juntos 2030 (Together 2030) es una iniciativa que congrega actores interesados en la implementación nacional y el monitoreo del progreso de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible. Pretende garantizar que las organizaciones y personas vinculadas compartan el conocimiento y la experiencia necesarios para ser efectivamente incluidas en los debates sobre la formulación y activación de hojas de ruta al nivel nacional y hacer que los gobiernos rindan cuentas satisfactorias sobre su gestión hacia el logro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la ONU. 

La iniciativa es liderada por un grupo de organizaciones fundadoras conformado por CEPEI (Colombia), Justice, Development and Peace Commission - JDCP (Nigeria), Philippine Social Enterprise Network (Filipinas), Save Matabeleland (Zimbabwe), Sightsavers (global) y Visión Mundial (globlal).

Este colectivo está abierto a la participación voluntaria, informal y basada en la necesidad de la sociedad civil, actores no gubernamentales y sin ánimo de lucro en todo el mundo. 

Communication Strategies

Juntos 2030 genera espacios de interacción a través de seminarios web en donde se expone información y se abre la discusión (en inglés, francés y español) en torno a  temas como el rol de los parlamentarios en la implementación, los mecanismos de seguimiento y revisión, el establecimiento de indicadores y el estado de alistamiento que demuestran los países para el inicio de la puesta en marcha de la Agenda 2030. 

También se llevan a cabo grupos de trabajo o fuerzas de tarea en donde los miembros de la iniciativa debaten y acuerdan el establecimiento de las bases para el accionar de Juntos 2030. Hasta la fecha, hay grupos activos trabajando en incidencia global, involucramiento de parlamentarios en la Agenda 2030, participación e inclusión, e implementación nacional. 

Juntos 2030 ha producido posicionamientos conjuntos, incluyendo para el Foro Político de Alto Nivel de Naciones Unicas y también una serie de informes, encuestas y materiales sobre la implementación y rendición de cuentas de la Agenda 2030 y los ODS. 

Finalmente, el sitio web de Juntos 2030 hospeda un blog propio en donde los miembros de la iniciativa contribuyen material en torno a sus experiencias, puntos de vista, inquietudes y sugerencias para los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible.
