Goal 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty & HungerA foreward by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan describes this report as "a key resource in preparing for the September [Millennium +5] summit". Annan points out the disparity between achievements in some areas and the work remaining to be done in others. "This report," he states, "shows that we have the means at hand to ensure that nearly every country can make good on the promises of the goals. Our challenge is to deploy those means."
