Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Norms and Equity Guides for your Review

Hi and best wishes. The Social Norms Learning Collaborative is working with USAID to develop two guides to support your work related to social norms and equity. We would very much welcome your review and input in order to strengthen the present drafts so that the final products are of maximum value. Though their focus is family planning we are looking for reviews from the full range of people engaged with or interested in social norms, equity and positive Development. The two documents with links and passwords to access are:

Social Norms: Promoting collective support for family planning - password is hips4fp

Creating equitable access to family planning information and services - p/w - hips4fp

At each of those links, following the draft text. there is a comments form to complete.

If at all possible we would welcome comments being received by close of business Wednesday 19th May, 2021.

Thanks for considering. We very much hope that you can find 20 minutes to comment and contribute. Social norms and equity are vital for all of our Development action.
