Bush Radio's Teen Town Meetings
As part of their commitment to work with youth, Bush Radio has hosted a series of teen town meetings.
Communication Strategies
The purpose of the teen town meetings is to create a comfortable and safe environment for youth to speak out and to each other about sexuality, safe sex, informed choices, HIV and AIDS. These teen town meetings are a lead up to our World AIDS Day, December 1st, HIV-HOP education and awareness concert sponsored by Voice of America (VOA).
Development Issues
Youth, HIV/AIDS, Education, Rights, Political Development.
Key Points
Far too often youth are bombarded with safe sex messages that do not speak to them but rather speak at them. This series of teen town meetings is Bush Radio's effort to work with the youth, allowing them to share their knowledge and experiences with each other. In this open forum format, youth can ask questions and learn about sexuality and HIV/AIDS without feeling the pressures of grown-ups judging them or preaching to them. All teen town meetings were broadcast live on Bush Radio 89.5 fm.
