HEA Folic Acid Campaign
This awareness raising campaign reached not only the mothers but also the industry and professionals dealing with folic acid. A strong research component examined qualitative measures before, during and after the project with mothers, women and commercial sectors. Additional studies sought to monitor the availability and visibility of folic acid products in the marketplace.

This project was selected by the European region of the World Health Organisation as an example of an effective national campaign for improving health status. This campaign attacked all aspects of this problem, reaching out to health professionals, commercial industries and the women themselves to increase awareness about the issue.
