Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

"Growing Together", a Chilean radio programme, is aimed at disseminating relevant information on issues of pregnancy, parenting, care, and stimulation of young children. It airs every Sunday at 9:00 AM on Radio Cooperativa and at various other times through an extensive network of regional Chilean radio channels in order to support the development of children in each stage of their growth.

"Growing Together" is part of a widespread educational programme implemented in the framework of the strategy "Chile Grows with You" (see related summaries below), focused on the entire population of Chilean children in early childhood and their families through awareness, advocacy, information, and education on timely care and stimulation of children. It seeks to generate a social environment among family and community that contributes to maximising the potential of children through early childhood development (ECD).

"Chile Grows with You" is the public presence of the "Sistema de Protección Integral a la Infancia" (Integral Protection System for Children), whose mission is to assist and protect all children in the country in order to support their development, from birth until they enter the school system in prekindergarten. This programme provides access to services and benefits to meet their needs. Additionally, it supports families and communities where children grow so that appropriate conditions for growth exist in communities.
