Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

AIDSchannel.org is a multimedia web portal dealing with issues relating to HIV/AIDS. The website is part of OneWorld Network and is managed and edited at the OneWorld Africa office based in Lusaka, Zambia. Its mission is to foster understanding, knowledge, and information sharing and to emphasise that HIV/AIDS is not only a health but a development, social, economic, and human rights issue.
Communication Strategies
AIDSchannel.org carries stories and information from around the world on HIV/AIDS. It acts as an online platform for all those involved in the field to exchange news and information and develop networks. Channel features include news, editorials, best practices, campaigns, a thematic directory of partner organisations, an email digest, opinions by leading commentators, in-depth analyses, events listings, alerts, a beginner's guide to HIV/AIDS and a dedicated search facility on AIDS.

Partnership is a key strategy for supporting this information and communication technology (ICT) initiative. The portal brings together information and resources from civil society organisations, governments, research institutions, media, and other stakeholders working in the field. Organisers claim that AIDSchannel.org provides up-to-date content from a wide range of its information partners worldwide.
