Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Fast Forwarding to the Future (Triple F)

Fast Forwarding to the Future (Triple F) aims to create a platform for Africans from diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas while showcasing their talent and promoting home-grown ideas through music, drumming and dancing. It was developed by 30 young people from East and Southern Africa and was launched in Maputo, Mozambique from 15-18 September 2004.
Communication Strategies
The project is expected to attract a pan-African gathering of at least 150 people including African leaders whose tenure has been associated with alternative visions for Africa, development activists, youth and other leading personalities participating in prominent global campaigns for social and economic justice. The project also provided a platform for both young and old African thinkers to share their wisdom in the quest for solutions to Africa's problems.
