ICT Development Gateway - Morocco
The Morocco Development Gateway (RDG) is a project that aims to create an online information, communication and networking tool owned by the Moroccan community active in social and economic development activities.
Communication Strategies
The aim of the project is to promote the use of ICT to narrow information gaps. The organisers say the team is aiming to put ICT tools in the hands of a greater number of actors in the Moroccan development community, especially those outside the Rabat-Casablanca corridor, thereby enabling greater public participation in policy making, more coordination between institutions, and wider dissemination of pertinent information to and from funding, planning and operational organisations.
The organisers developed a business plan for the project and the E-Readiness study. They are working to establish partnerships and a governance structure for the project implementation. The MDG team is also working with the Sri Lanka and Tanzania Development Gateways on selection of their technology platform.
The project is focused on specific development themes including education and literacy, water, health, income generation, environment, human rights, and women in development. It is also focused on endeavoring to produce local content in local languages.
