Peace and Reconciliation - Sierra Leone
Peace and Reconciliation is a tele-collaborative project between iEARN Sierra Leone Network a member of the International Education and Resource, a non-profit global network and Virtual Activism USA.It enables young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects. The project addresses the educational needs of young people both in Sierra Leone and around the world with its focus on student tele-collaboration.
Communication Strategies
The mission of IEARN Sierra Leone is the rehabilitation of youth who have endured hardship from war and war's effects. Using computers and the Internet, teachers help to build ICT and communications skills in these youths with the intent to reclaim their potential as productive citizens. The goal is for students to interact and share ideas about peace and try to explore their talents in various forms on the theme of peace and reconciliation. The project uses the Internet and other new technologies to engage students in collaborative educational projects that enhance learning.

Key Points
The organisers predict that conflict will drop substantially as children are more empowered to use their artistic talents to educate their peers, parents, and communities about peace. They also predict that school and community leaders will become more effective in transmitting the skills and knowledge required for the non-violent resolution of conflict, and that individuals will be encouraged to integrate what they have learned into their daily professional and personal lives.
