Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Proyecto Acción SIDA - PASCA - Centroamérica

This programme promotes political dialogue with the purpose of strengthening the capacity of participating countries to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Communication Strategies
The project promotes the flow of information among organisations; disseminates information on the impact of the disease; develops peer education activities; and supports NGOs, networks, and national programmes.

Specifically, PASCA provides technical assistance to governmental and non-government organisations working to prevent the disease in Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Salvador and Guatemala. One of its programmes, REDAS – Information Center Network, consists in seven centres focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention. These centres offer access to the Internet, an interactive Web page, as well as resources for political, national, regional, and global dialogue.

The organisation produced PASCA 2000, a CD-ROM with manuals for NGOs dealing with this issue.
