Chamada a Acao (Call to Action) - Brazil
"Call to Action" is a programme to mobilise and train radio personnel on the importance of basic education and ways to address this in their programming.
Communication Strategies
Between October 1997 and May 1998, this programme trained 565 people; 950 people will soon be trained in 19 states in Brazil. Call to Action produced the CD "Sem Educacao nao Tem Jogo" with spots from soccer players of the Brazilian team, and the serial programme "A Caminho da Escola". The programme "Escola Brasil" has also been produced, and is now being transmitted to North, Northeast, and Middle West Brazil. Publications include a guide, cassettes and CDs about the importance of education and the social role of radio.
