Social norms action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Global Plan to Stop TB

SummaryText
'Stop TB' is a global movement, lead by the Stop TB Partnership, to accelerate social and political action to stop the spread of tuberculosis around the world. The publication has been divided into four different sections to facilitate the downloading process.

The document describes the action and resources needed over the next five years to expand, adapt, and improve the effort in order to meet the 2005 global targets and set the world on the road to eliminating TB. Nine billion dollars is needed to fulfil the objectives of the Plan, and with a gap of nearly US$4 billion, much work is needed to mobilise more resources.

Prepared over a two-year period by a team from Partners in Health and the Stop TB Partnership secretariat, with funding from the Open Society Institute, the Global Plan incorporates contributions from over 150 experts in TB control, public health, and development around the world, and has the backing of WHO, the World Bank, and many other agencies involved in the Global Partnership to Stop TB.

A first draft of the Plan was presented at the Stop TB Partners Forum in October 2001, and has since been updated with new information on the global TB epidemic.

A 2006-2015 Plan is now available. Please click here for more information.
