Disease, HIV/AIDS and Capacity Implications: A Case of the Public Agriculture Sector in Zambia

This report examines how HIV/AIDS has affected the agriculture sector in Zambia, and some the resulting responses. It looks at the broad setting and national overview of the HIV/AIDS situation in Zambia and the agriculture sector in general. From an operational level, the report examines such issues as transport facilities, information and communication systems, training and staffing, including the impact of very high levels of attrition. Responses to the impact of HIV/AIDS are also explored, including the development of community funeral schemes, expansion of extensions services, and expansion of media and community engagement.
