After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Overview

The newly established BBC World Service Trust exists to mobilise the increasingly powerful voice of the media, so that it can play its part as a catalyst for change. The Trust is a non-profit-making charitable trust operating within the BBC. It was set up to focus education, training, health and development activities in one unit, drawing on the expertise within Bush House and the BBC as a whole. Its key role is to use media to promote development and to build media expertise in developing countries. Funding for projects comes from a variety of sources including governmental and private foundations.

The range of activities is one of the Trust's key strengths whether it be working with local broadcasters in developing countries on health education projects or training journalists around the world on the skills of impartial reporting or collaborating with other broadcasters on local educational media campaigns.

my name is Mukeya Liwena,iam a community radio broadcaster at Lyambai community radio Located in the Western province of Zambia.I produce radio programmes meant to develop my province which is the poorest in my country.futhermore
we are initiating a project called
"advocates for change" we will look into issues like promoting good governance, rural development
human rights education and more.
