PRYME - USA
The Partnership for Regional Youth Media Empowerment (PRYME) is a programme in Cleveland, Ohio striving to empower teens through creative writing, radio and television production, and electronic media production. This is a merger of three youth media mentoring programmes: What Youth Think Today, The Write Way, and PRYME-Net.
Communication Strategies
What Youth Think Today recruits high school students to produce "Our World", a weekly radio programme. Recent programming has included: Generation X & the Baby Boomers, Homeless Women & Children, Youth Depression & Suicide, Youth Violence, Teen Courts, Teen Parenting & Multicultural Education, The Underground Railroad, Free Speech & the Internet. Students also produce videos. The Write Way gathers together middle school students to listen to guest speakers and take field trips. These students then reflect on these experiences in a regional newsletter which is distributed throughout the Cleveland area. What Youth Think Today and The Write Way students join together annually to turn these newsletters into radio scripts. PRYME-Net is a group of students who manage and transfer print materials onto the PRYMETIME home page.
Development Issues
Child rights, free speech.
