ICT Development Gateway – Rwanda
The Rwanda Development Gateway's (RDG) main priority is the development of web content. Its focus will be on the design and management of the Gateway portal as the main source of content and a tool to speed up the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in Rwanda.
Communication Strategies
The project will facilitate access to Internet-based information resources at reduced costs. The National University of Rwanda (NUR) is the only Rwandan academic institution with campuses in both Kigali and Butare. As a primary rural and second-city Internet service provider, NUR has a network throughout the country, and is part of the World Bank-funded Distance Learning Project. The project is also focusing on coordinating an integrated national educational network in Rwanda.
The RDG has set up a governance structure and organised a series of workshops and meetings with potential content partners and stakeholders to identify and establish working groups for the development of indigenous knowledge, technological content and financial resources.

Key Points
The Rwanda Development Team met with the Minister of Education and representatives of local institutions in August 2002 to discuss the type of content that will be developed for the Gateway and to form a working team for the project. Several ideas were brought up and it was agreed that within the month, the interested institutions would forward documentation of their activities to the Gateway.
